The Activity Modalities: A Priori Categories of Coordination
نویسنده
چکیده
A conceptualization of a-priori forms of coordination as activity modalities is proposed. Sensations in various sensory modalities are integrated by our brain into a coherent, actionable percept, structured by the processes of objectivation, contextualization, spatialization, temporalization, stabilization, and transition. This conceptualization promises to bridge neuroscientific and applied research into the coordination problem. Introduction The understanding of how actions are coordinated and integrated in the pursuit of fulfilling needs is of prime importance for brain research: “I do not see any way to avoid the problem of coordination and still understand the physical basis of life” [1, p. 176] Coordination has been extensively investigated “internally” in various neuroscientific and cognitive studies, and “externally” in applied areas like, for example, organizational studies. Usually, neuroscientific research focuses of the inner workings of the brain, while the external environment is conceptualized in rather general, non-specific terms. As a case in point, see Figure 1:

Categories of fuzzy topology in the context of graded ditopologies on textures
This paper extends the notion of ditopology to the case where openness and closedness are given in terms of {em a priori} unrelated Drading functions. The resulting notion of graded ditopology is considered both in the setting of lattices and in that textures, the relation between the two approaches being discussed in detail. Interrelations between graded ditopologies and ditopologies on textur...
متن کاملComparison of the effectiveness of traditional method and tactical game method for teaching sports skills on enjoyment of physical activity in children with developmental coordination disorder
Children with developmental coordination disorder tend to avoid engaging in physical activity that leads to poor motor function and negative psychological consequences. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of traditional methods and tactical game methods in teaching sports skills on the enjoyment of physical activity in children with developmental coordination disorder. Thirty...
متن کاملCognitive Grounding of Activity Modalities
In this paper, we assume that the social reality and the communal meaning about this reality are reflected in each other. In object-related activity two kinds of congruent elements are constructed – objectivated elements oriented internally towards the human mind and objectified elements oriented externally towards the social reality. We propose that the mutual construction of mind and social r...
متن کاملApplications of the Kleisli and Eilenberg-Moore 2-adjunctions
In 2010, J. Climent Vidal and J. Soliveres Tur developed, among other things, a pair of 2-adjunctions between the 2-category of adjunctions and the 2-category of monads. One is related to the Kleisli adjunction and the other to the Eilenberg-Moore adjunction for a given monad.Since any 2-adjunction induces certain natural isomorphisms of categories, these can be used to classify bijection...
متن کاملEffects of Proprioceptive and Visual Disturbance on Inphase and Anti-phase Hand Performance
Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate the effect of sensory and movement speed manipulations on bimanual coordination dynamics. Here we compared to what extent the absence and or bias of different sensory modalities affect performance of coordination of movements. Methods: Fifteen physical education students of Shahid Beheshti University (aged 18-25 years) were partici...
